The Queens of Reggae Island Honorary Ceremonies (QORIHC) is marking a major milestone this year as it prepares to stage its 10th annual awards ceremony, a decade-long celebration of women whose work has often gone unrecognised in the entertainment industry. The initiative will honour 35 women across multiple categories spanning the entertainment landscape, shining a light on contributors from music, film, television, comedy, dancehall, theatre, media and beyond.

Franchise holder of the Miss Global International Competition, Lachu Ramchandani, says the pageant is returning to Jamaica after a three-year hiatus. Formerly known as the Miss Commonwealth pageant, the competition will once again be staged locally, with a focus on efforts to revive tourism activity in western Jamaica.

A staple of Caribbean carnival energy, Iwer George is one of Trinidad and Tobago’s most prolific soca artistes, with a career spanning back to 1987 and a catalogue of enduring hits. From Come to Meh to Take Ah Bathe, his music remains a fixture on the soca circuit. A multiple Soca Monarch winner, he also won the Road March title in 2020 with Kes the Band on Stage Gone Bad, a track many will recognise from the line: " We come to mash it up, shell it down and turn it over!” He also shared the Road March title with calypsonian and soca artiste Superblue in 2000.
